From JONSU to all Indica Fans!

"Our dearest fans and friends,

we are happy to tell you that we´ve now started to record the next album in Petrax studios. The beginning was difficult as always. We are working with great and really talented guys, Roland Spremberg (producer) and Marc Schettler (sound engineer and mixing), but I must admit that it took some time for all of us to get used to each others working habits. When Roland visited our rehearsal place the first time, he looked quite terrified..awful mess everywhere and nothing was ready. Just the chaos of ideas without a good structure. But day by day the picture became clearer and in the end we all had a wonderful feeling about the album and a pretty clear picture in our heads. It just took some time.
We have been thinking about all of you in the studio. Our biggest dream is to create something unique that will bring a big smile to your faces and something that will be with you when life feels difficult. That´s what music can be in its best. A lovely friend that you never want to get rid of. It will always be there for you when you need it. I still don´t know how well we will succeed, but the trip has started and we will promise to work like small ants until we get there <3 You stay in our hearts!"

Indica was founded 2001 by Jonsu, Heini, Sirkku, Jenny and Laura in Helsinki, Finland. Even before Indica the girls played in several combos, since they discovered their musical skills in their early childhood. Indica signed their contract with manager Peter Kokljuschin in December 2002. In 2003 the girls got their first recordcontract with SonyMusic Finland having their debutalbum "Ikuinen virta" released the same year. The album sold platinum in Finland.

Indicas music is written and composed by the charismatic Jonsu. According to her, she gets inspired by moviesoundtracks, while her lyrics contain pieces of her own live aswell as the lives of her friends and even her dreams.

In 2007 Indica joined finlands number 1 export Nightwish on their scandinavian tour which next to increasing the popularity of the band, led to a tight co-op with Nightwish mastermind Tuomas Holopainen. In 2008 Indicas fourth album "Valoissa - (In the Lights)" was released, which produced by Tuomas Holopainen. Next to this, Tuomas and Jonsu recorded a new version of Nightwish´s "Last of the wilds" now called "Erämaan Viimeinen", featuring Jonsus vocals.

In 2009 Indica hooked up with Nightwish once more as their supporting act on Nightwish´s European Deja Vu Tour, thereby broadening Indicas fanbase within europe. On June 4th 2010 Indicas "In passing" from their first english Album "A way Away" was released in Europe and hit the charts like a bombshell.

Quote Tuomas Holopainen: "Indica has such sights to show you! You will be spellbound for a lifetime!".

The bandname Indica itself, according to Jonsu, is not related to the canabisplant, yet coming from the latin word Indigo.
